How We Work Together
Every organization is different, and so is every leader. The goal is always the same: provide the right level of support at the right moment—so leadership gets steadier, systems get clearer, and the organization builds capacity (not dependency).
Most partnerships fall into one of the following models:

Interim / Fractional Leadership
-
Best for: vacant ED seat, parental leave coverage, founder transitions, restructuring
-
Typical timeframe: 4–16 weeks
-
Experienced leadership during high-stakes transitions. JLW can step in as an Interim Executive Director, Fractional COO, or Chief of Staff to stabilize operations, support staff, protect fundraising and partner relationships, and create a clear 30/60/90-day plan that carries the organization forward.
-
Outcome: continuity now, clarity next, smooth transition forward.
Strategic Advisory (Executive Partner)
-
Best for: founders/EDs who want a trusted operating + strategy partner without adding headcount
-
Typical timeframe: ongoing (often scoped in 2–6 month blocks)
-
Ongoing advising and decision support for leaders navigating complexity—paired with practical follow-through when needed. Strategic Advisory often focuses on:
-
Organizational strategy and growth planning
-
Fundraising strategy and donor engagement
-
Board development and governance
-
Partnerships and ecosystem building
-
Executive decision-making, prioritization, and leadership presence
-
Outcome: better decisions, faster and the structure to execute them.

Focused Capacity-Building Projects (Sprints)
-
Best for: a defined initiative that needs momentum + usable deliverables
-
Typical timeframe: 2–8 weeks
-
Project-based engagements to move a key priority forward and leave behind tools the team can reuse. Common projects include:
-
Strategic planning (and implementation roadmaps)
-
Fundraising roadmaps and grant strategy
-
Communications and storytelling frameworks
-
Operational infrastructure and systems
-
Partnership development and partner-ready materials
-
Outcome: tangible outputs + lightweight systems that last beyond the engagement.

Whatever the engagement model, the approach is the same: clarity, steadiness, and execution support that builds capacity.
Our Approach
Our philosophy is simple: partner closely with leaders while ensuring the organization becomes stronger and more self-sustaining over time.
That means prioritizing:
-
Clear roles and expectations
-
Transparent timelines and deliverables
-
Knowledge transfer to internal teams
-
Systems that keep working after the engagement ends

Success isn’t measured by how long we stay—it’s measured by how well the organization thrives once it doesn’t need us anymore.

About Our Principal

Jennifer Wong, PhD
Principal Consultant
Jennifer Wong, Ph.D. is a nonprofit executive and strategic advisor providing fractional leadership support (ED/COO/Chief of Staff) to mission-driven organizations during moments of transition and growth. Jennifer helps leaders create order out of complexity by strengthening governance, operations, fundraising and partnerships, and the strategic communications that make impact scalable and sustainable.
Engagements often include interim transition coverage, executive decision support and prioritization, board and vendor strategy (including hiring/termination guidance), and creation of funder- and partner-ready materials (decks, one-pagers, impact reporting) paired with lightweight operating systems (cadence, accountability, clear deliverables) so small teams can execute.
Jennifer previously served as the inaugural Executive Director of Wallis Annenberg GenSpace, a first-of-its-kind community center advancing creativity, connection, and lifelong learning for older adults in Los Angeles. At GenSpace, Jennifer led cross-sector partnerships spanning philanthropy, business, entertainment, academia, and technology—helping shift narratives about aging while building durable programs and community infrastructure.
Jennifer’s background bridges research, policy, and implementation. Jennifer contributed to California’s Master Plan for Aging with the California Department of Aging, and previously supported rural health policy for the Washington Health Care Authority and aging policy for Seattle & King County Public Health. A long-standing focus informs Jennifer’s work on social determinants of health, integrated care delivery, behavioral health across the lifespan, and community stakeholder engagement.
Jennifer holds a Doctorate in Experimental Psychology (University of Montana), an M.A. in Psychology (Sacramento State), and a B.A. from the University of San Francisco.
Outside of work, Jennifer enjoys group fitness classes, live theater, time with family and friends, and attempting to try a new dinner recipe each week.
